1. Pack That Sheet Like a Pro

The whole point of a gang sheet is to fit as many designs as possible onto one sheet — so don't waste space! Rotate designs to fill gaps, mix different sizes (small pocket prints next to a big back graphic, for example), and get designs as close together as possible without overlapping. Most printers leave at least a 1/4 inch gap between designs so they can be cut cleanly. Think of it like a puzzle — the tighter you fit it, the more you get for your money.

2. Send Artwork at 300 DPI (Seriously)

This is the one that trips people up the most. DTF printing is incredibly detailed, which means low-res artwork is going to look blurry and soft on the final product. Always send files at 300 DPI at the actual print size. PNG with a transparent background is ideal. If you're designing in Canva or a similar tool, export at the highest quality setting. When in doubt, bigger is better — we can always size down, but we can't add pixels that aren't there.

3. Mix It Up — Different Sizes on One Sheet

Don't limit yourself to one size per sheet. Got a big back design? Fill in the empty corners with small left-chest logos or 4-inch sleeve prints. Need a few large and a bunch of small? Stack them all on the same gang sheet. This is where DTF really shines compared to screen printing — every design can be a different size and color with no extra setup cost. Take full advantage of that.

4. Store Your Unused Transfers Correctly

DTF transfers can last 1-2 years if you store them right. Keep them flat, away from direct sunlight, humidity, and extreme temperatures. A cool, dry spot works great — a drawer, a flat storage box, or even a portfolio sleeve. Don't roll them up or stack heavy things on top. When you're ready to use one, let it come to room temperature if it's been somewhere cold. A little storage care goes a long way.

5. Press Settings Matter — A Lot

Getting a perfect press every time comes down to three things: temperature, time, and pressure. For most DTF transfers, you're looking at 300-320°F, medium-firm pressure, for 10-15 seconds. Always do a test press on a scrap piece of fabric first. Peel hot or cold depending on the transfer type (we'll always note which ours are). After the transfer is set, flip the shirt inside out and press for another 5 seconds with a cover sheet to lock in the adhesion. That extra step makes a real difference in durability and wash performance.
